When I was blessed with a family of my own, I always thought I’d end up holding off my profession and passion – mainly because I wanted to mostly focus on my daughter’s first two years.
Unfortunately, like 15% of mothers suffering from postpartum depression, I’ve had my share of baby blues. It was so devastating that I’ve seen myself, in my dreams, at my worst. I then forced myself through therapy and coping, including job hunting as a diversion. And for almost two years, I failed all of my applications. Though there were some offers, they were put off for some reason, which eventually added to my depression.
But God has been so good to me and family, right up to when I was about to break down and give up. Just a few days after my daughter’s second birthday, I got a call for an initial interview for a job posting I applied for at that very same moment. A few days later, I had my final interview and then a demo, which I was so sure I messed up pretty badly. In a surprising turn of events, I got the job. And now, I don’t just practice my passion and profession, but at the same time, I get to be the best version of myself as a wife and as a mother.
My story may not be as inspirational as most of our colleagues; nonetheless, I strongly believe that my career here at Foundever has always been my DESTINY!
