James Lipscombe

I have worked in the service sector for 15 years. At 18, I started my first job, working in a busy bar and eventually progressing to the role of manager. From here, my love of coffee took me to work as a Barista in a specialty coffee shop before I relocated to Plymouth in 2017.

In my new Ocean City home, I worked briefly in a café before starting work at Foundever, but my real passion was my voluntary work in politics. The General Election of 2017 was an electric time, in which I got to know Plymouth and the people who live here. It was during this time that I fell in love with the city, which I now call home.

In the Autumn of 2017, I started a new job at Foundever, having never previously worked in a contact centre. Working as a Customer Service Agent was new and challenging, but I found it rewarding. There is a joy in helping people who call you with a problem which needs solving. Since starting, my role at Foundever has changed slightly; remaining on the same campaign, but working in the back office department, dealing with more complex customer support matters.

After nearly two years of working at Foundever, I have made friends out of colleagues, and it is they who motivate me daily. Earlier this year, I was elected to represent my fellow workers on the Employee Forum. It was here that my desire to help others could unite with my political experience. Speaking to employees about their issues and ideas, and raising them at the Employee Forum, brings a sense of meaning and purpose to my work. Every day there is an opportunity to help someone and, in turn, help our work to be the best it possibly can. Foundever Plymouth is a fairly young site, and I have enjoyed seeing it grow and develop just as I have grown and developed within it.

This is my Foundever Story so far, but I hope that there is still much more to write in the coming years.
