One thing that always impressed me and encouraged me to Giraffe a user is when they reported that a loved one, unfortunately, had passed away and they couldn’t make their reservations. I’ve always thought, “Jesus, poor thing. I can’t imagine what he’s going through”. I felt like making their day somehow by sending a small gift during their dark days.
Well, I’ve had the craziest year, from losing loved ones as a few of my pets and family members that were very dear to me. At the beginning of this year, I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety due to so many sad life events; and it prevented me from living a normal life. I couldn’t take it anymore, and I had to stay away for a couple of weeks.
During this time, I’ve had amazing support from my team and colleagues, especially my lead Paula Antonio, lead Mario Sequeira and Rita Cruz. And, of course, management who understood my situation.
Without them, I think I wouldn’t have made it this far, because they never gave up on me. My team always gave me that extra strength and confidence that I was lacking. Today, I can easily make an outbound call without feeling anxious; which is very important because back then, I couldn’t speak to anyone.
Today, I’m finally in R1 and kicking butts, especially depression’s butt.
I have to thank all the mentioned friends for this fantastic opportunity from day one. It’s an amazing project and workplace. Although sometimes there may be challenges, I can say that I’m happy to work among friends and support our clients.
I can say that this was my “giraffe”.
